Divorce Coaching for the Seattle Area

Looking for a divorce coach in the Seattle area? I live on Mercer Island, I’m a member of the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce, and I work with clients across Seattle, Bellevue, the Eastside and the wider Puget Sound region. Sessions are virtual, so a bridge closure never cancels coaching.

I’m Cherie Morris. I’m a divorce and conflict coach, I hold a J.D., I’m a CDC Certified Divorce Coach, and I teach other coaches as an instructor in the CDC High Conflict Divorce Coaching certification program.

A Seattle lineage

Seattle has produced some of the country’s best thinking about divorce and co-parenting, much of it from Karen Bonnell, author of The Co-Parenting Handbook. Karen entrusted her professional community, Between Sessions, to me, and that lineage is more than a compliment. It connects my clients to a bench of experienced attorneys, financial professionals and therapists, many right here in the region.

What divorce looks like here

Washington asks divorcing parents to build a parenting plan, which means the two of you will be making detailed decisions about your children’s lives at exactly the moment talking feels hardest. That’s precisely the gap coaching fills. Many of my Seattle clients are also navigating long marriages ending at or after 50, or careers where equity and stock make the money conversation more tangled than a paycheck ever was. I help you get ready to make those decisions well. Your lawyer handles the law.

Where you might begin

If you’re still asking “should we?”, start with couples divorce-decision coaching. If every exchange already burns, start with high-conflict divorce coaching. If the divorce is done but the friction isn’t, start with co-parenting coaching. In every room the method is the same: the conflict pivot, respond instead of react, and simple body-based tools that keep you steady when it counts, whether we’re working with one of you or both together, because conflict is a pattern between people and patterns are what I work on.

The line I’ll say until everyone’s heard it

It’s not the divorce that harms children. It’s the conflict around it. Every degree of heat we take out of this protects your kids, on both sides of the lake and in both houses.
