Ideas she is known for

Cherie’s commentary rests on frameworks she developed across nearly a decade of coaching individuals, couples and co-parents:

  • “Is this a today decision or a forever decision?” The discernment question for couples deciding whether to divorce.
  • “It is not the divorce that harms children. It is the conflict around it.” The principle behind her whole-family approach.
  • The conflict pivot. Moving from reacting to responding, pairing practical communication tools with somatic, body-based regulation.
  • A parenting schedule is not a fairness ledger, it is a conflict-reduction instrument. Her reframe on custody schedules.

Where she can take a story

Gray divorce and deciding to divorce at or after 50. High-conflict co-parenting and communication with a difficult ex. The couple’s decision, whether to stay or go, made together rather than alone. Custody schedules and parenting plans. The fear of who a spouse will become once you file, and how preparation answers it. What divorce professionals get wrong about conflict. As a former attorney, she speaks fluently to the seam between the legal machinery and the human being inside it.

A leader among her peers

Cherie does not only practice this work. She teaches it and convenes it.

  • She trains other coaches as an instructor in the CDC® High Conflict Divorce Coaching certification program.
  • She hosts Between Sessions, the national peer community for divorce professionals — attorneys, mediators, coaches, therapists and financial professionals — founded by Karen Bonnell, author of The Co-Parenting Handbook, who entrusted it to Cherie on her retirement.
  • Fellow professionals consult her on their hardest high-conflict cases.

“Cherie brought depth, experience and vision to Friday Consult Group; she imagined how the time between sessions with trusted colleagues could be developed and expanded. Thankful for her energy to carry on, develop the idea and bring co-parent coaching to a wider cohort!”
